I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering (BE – Computer Technology) from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, India in 1991 and a Master of Technology (M. Tech - Computer Engineering) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in January 2000. I have attended many training programs, conferences and seminars at IIT Delhi and Mumbai. The research I am pursuing is on “Design and performance evaluation of cognitive radio network for real time communication in smart grid” at Victoria University, Melbourne. The smart grid system is a dynamic power network for supplying energy and information flows in multi-direction, linking distributed (intermittent) electricity generation with the centralised power stations. The unregulated demand of electricity put intense pressure on existing power grid which may lead to black-out and other unforeseen errors. His study shall focus on finding apriory the aggregate demands of a sector through data received from end-user having advance metering infrastructure (AMI). The challenge lies in managing millions of connected devices in smart grid infrastructure and maintaining reliable communication between these devices with the central control center, in bandwidth limited wired/wireless medium. Identification of faults and timely action to avert the blackouts by isolating the sources of the fault using fifth generation wireless communication technology the cognitive radio shall be the outcome of his research.
