1 Pr Jean marie Rodrigues University of Saint Etienne .Head of the Department of Public Health and Medical Informatics USE.

Initially trained as a physician in gastro-enterology ,radiology , public health and occupational medicine in the University of Nancy he obtained university degrees in epidemiology, bio-statistics ,medical informatics and health economy in the Universities of Paris ,Strasbourg and Nancy(1964-1978) He has started to work on DRG within the French ministry of Health in 1982 .He was the first DRG (PMSI French acronym) project director and responsible for the definition of the hospital discharge summary , the statistical tests of hospital data bases, the initial definition of the French DRG (GHM) algorithm including the ICD 9 and CDAM (French coding system for surgical procedures) codes tables, the implementation of case based cost accounting information systems in French hospitals and national data bases analysis and comparisons between French , Swedish, Australian, American and Hungarian data bases . He left the ministry in 1986 to develop a research and training team in medical informatics and health economics based on case-mix information systems including the processing of the 17 millions French hospital discharges a year in the University of Saint Etienne where he is presently acting as head of the department of public health and medical informatics. He has developed active participation in clinical terminology European and national research projects as SESAME, GALEN In Use ,CCAM and standardisation process within CEN /TC 251 and ISO / TC 215 being the co-ordinator for the first European full standard in Health informatics :EN 1828. He has been regular advisor for the French ministry of health , the national health insurance agency and the different hospital corporations . He has worked as well as part time consultant on Case-mix and clinical terminology with ministries or organisations from Australia, Bulgaria , Czech republic , Germany , Hungary, Ireland , Italy, Japan, Romania , Russia, Spain , Sweden ,Switzerland , UK,USA, and WHO and OCDE . He has been visiting professor at Yale , Dartmouth college and Linkoping university .Finally after being 18 years president he is emeritus president of PCSE international organisation networking organisations working on case-mix in 35 countries of the 5 continents and he has been appointed member of the board of the French national case-mix and clinical terminology centre named ATIH.
